30 Days of Me - Day 18 - The Future

Incense at Po Lin

Today the meme instructs me to tell you about my hopes and dreams.
Oy.

I hope to remain passionate, in life & in love, with my photography, writing, & drama.
I hope to retain my sense of self. My humour & pathos, my cynical optimism, my pride in my appearance.
I hope to not have children for a fair few years yet. Ditto with owning a house.
I hope to travel more. Explore the world & take its picture.
I hope to work in an environment that stretches me intellectually, with people I like, who make me feel accomplished & appreciated.*

My dreams tend to be disappointingly boring but prescient.
I'll see snippets of a conversation that will occur two weeks later but, of course, it'll just be about what to have for lunch or something equally mundane.
Being boringly psychic is my almost-superpower.

* I do currently, but I hope this happens in the future too.

30 Days of Me - Day 15 - iPod/iPhone

photo.PNG

Today I am instructed to put my iPod on shuffle and list the first ten songs which play.
Well I don't have an iPod. I gave it to a friend who couldn't afford one after it turned out I hadn't played a single song in over a year.
But! I do have an iPhone. And it's essentially the same thing.

x The Ghost Who Walks - Karen Elson
x Broken Machine - Zowie
x Beauty Mark - Charlotte Gainsbourg
x Big Poppa - Notorious B.I.G.
x Love is a Losing Game - Amy Winehouse
x In the Sun - She & Him
x Public Service Announcement - Dangermouse
x Flowers Grow Out of My Grave - Dead Man's Bones
x Roxanne - The Knux
x Lullaby - The Cure

p.s. Baby Jayne, remember when you said that there was no need to have an iPod and an iPhone? and I dismissed you? Yea. Turns out you were right.

30 Days of Me - Day 13 - Dear You

Dear Past-Sarah-Rose

Hi there, how are you liking not being around anymore? do you feel left out? I'm quite enjoying being Present-Sarah-Rose.

You sure do like to mess with my mind though, don't you? You're always there as my internal monologue, reminding me of things I did wrong, things I could have done better, making me blush when I'm busy doing nothing-in-particular. That's not the best look. Makes me look a bit crazy.

You were also the one who decided that I shall not be allowed to write about my job on the internet. I know, I know, you are just looking out for me, and Future-Sarah-Rose, but this means I can't, I won't, write about a person, or perhaps it is two, who has/have actually hurt me. So perhaps I'm lashing out at you. I have no one else to whom to address this letter!

I guess that's a good thing. Thinking about people who have hurt me recently and coming up (on the whole) completely blank.

It's not all bad though. You make me doubt myself, but you also had me cut an awesome fringe, and started this whole "eating less and exercising more" thing which has made me feel about a million times better about myself.
So thank you.
Thank you for making me think about how my current actions will affect Future-Sarah-Rose.

Sincerely,
Present-Sarah-Rose

Week Thirty-Eight

The Week in Photographs

Sunday: Putting on 6 inch heels to hang out laundry. This is my 152cm life.
Sunday
Putting on 6inch heels to hang out the washing. This is my 152cm tall life.

Monday: Work outfit details
Monday
I was considering taking an outfit photo until I realised that the only mildly interesting things about my outfit were the OPI nailpolish and my Tiffany's necklace.
The necklace was the leaving present from my London job.

Tuesday: Blue sky, sun, and kowhai
Tuesday
Arriving at work, looking up at the blue blue sky through the sun-coloured Kowhai.
This was taken just after 7am.

Wednesday: Late at work, train at dusk.
Wednesday
I stayed late at work and, as Craig had already gone home, I took the train.
The Ngauranga stop (pictured) is my favourite.

Thursday: Hating everything we usually cook, I make bacon and asparagus tagliatelle
Thursday
Every so often I tire of the usual meals my darling husband and I cook. This was one of those days.
And so, we stopped at the supermarket on the way home and I collected the fixings for Jamie Oliver's bacon and asparagus tagliatelle. It was delicious.

Friday: Frost Quote
Friday
Two roads diverged in a wood and I- I took the one less travelled by, and this has made all the difference.

Saturday: Spring walk
Saturday
A sunny spring walk on a Saturday.

30 Days of Me - Day 12 - Blog-blog-blogging

Computer Nook

I fell in to "blogging" about 9 years ago. Seriously.
I'm pretty sure it was Kat who first told me about Livejournal, a site where you could write and post photos and people could follow you and comment and have conversations. So yea. I started there.
It wasn't until I was planning my wedding (2005) that I created ohdarling.net.nz - essentially as a way for my family to find out about the wedding. And then I just kind of ... kept it going. And going. And going. It chronicles our decision to move to London, and the travel we've done, and our life since we've returned to New Zealand.
Craig has, actually, very little to do with it at all. I am the writer, I am the photographer, he is my leading man.

I like that I have so many entries under my belt. I like that my photography has evolved and my writing has stayed fundamentally the same (overly wordy, filled with parentheses, very much in my voice), and I love that I have met some amazing people through the internet.

It's like I'm writing my autobiography as I go along.
